Having heard enough jokes about “inner gas,” natural gas company Energas approached us for a new name in 1986. We successfully rebranded them for future growth. And grow they did — so much so that they enlisted our help again in 2001, making their name a linchpin for their integrated branding as they acquired other distribution companies.

The Greek term for vapor or gas — and the root of atmosphere — Atmos promised new heights for the company. Paired with Energy to communicate at a glance, the new name lent itself to a consumer-friendly logo and graphics system. And as an umbrella brand, Atmos Energy easily accommodated new companies as they were brought into the fold.
